The Dirty Dozen and the Clean Fifteen

It's no great secret that food quality has decreased dramatically. Nutrient density has dropped, the use of harsh pesticides is rampant, and Genetically Modified Organisms and their long-term consequences are unknown, or even worse, downplayed. There is a concept known as "The Dirty Dozen and the Clean Fifteen," a list of fresh fruits and vegetables that are either so likely to be rife with pesticides that they should be consumed Organically or not at all, and those that are clean enough that buying organic is not necessary.

The Dirty Dozen (buy organic)

Strawberries, Spinach, Greens (Kale, Collard, and Mustard), Nectarines, Apples, Grapes, Cherries, Peaches, Pears, Peppers (Bell and Hot), Celery, and Tomatoes. 

The Clean Fifteen (organic not necessary)

Avocados, Sweet Corn, Pineapple, Onion, Papaya, Sweet Peas, Eggplant, Asparagus, Broccoli, Cabbage, Kiwi, Cauliflower, Mushrooms, Honey Dew, Cantaloupe,
